Dublin travel

I found Dublin easy to get around, and the people very friendly.

To get to and from Dublin's airport use Dublin Express.

Dublin is one of the most expensive places to stay in Europe second only to London, so staying in the city centre is prohibitively expensive.

Dublin bus map

The bus system is very confusing if using just the official map (I found the one above online). Unlike most cities, their maps do not show the routes, just the names of the stops and the bus number going to these stops. The TFI Journey Plan app is essential. Download from the Apple app store or from Google play for Android.

The ferries from Ireland are extensive: they go to Scotland,Wales, England and France. I took the regular ferry from Dublin to Holyhead, Wales (the Stena line) which is about 3 hours and 15 minutes. I didn't realize that there is a fast ferry that does the crossing in 1 hour and 50 minutes! This is run by Irish Ferries and is called the "Dublin Swift." I booked through Direct Ferries for this trip and the ferry from Morocco to Spain; easily booked through their app.
